DR Phillipa Bellemore

Dr Phillipa Bellemore’s thesis ‘Refugee Mentoring: The Comfort of Strangers’ researched three refugee mentoring programs in Sydney, Adelaide and Brisbane. As part of her research, Phillipa spent time volunteering at English language classes for immigrants and refugees. Phillipa will discuss strategies of empowering refugees and people seeking asylum through a caring, reciprocal and strength-based approach to transforming relationships between volunteers, educators and refugees.

"Last year Bass Coast Adult Learning invited Skull Fork to play. The overall experience was welcoming and enjoyable. The participants enjoyed performing and the venue. If you have the opportunity to attend this year's ALW events on ZOOM, I would highly recommend."
