Learning Update: COVID-19

(April 14, 2020)

  • Our Centre remains open for the present, however, circumstances are changing rapidly.

The centre will remain open for the foreseeable future and classes will be predominantly run online.

  • BCAL will completely cease face to face classes if:

    • it is required to by a change in government policy

    • a staff member, student, or volunteer shows symptoms of the COVID-19 virus

  • BCAL is using alternative methods of teaching delivery

    • Our plan for the foreseeable future is to continue as many classes as possible using online learning via Zoom and/or Google Classroom for the delivery of classes.Practical components of courses are being conducted via live video where possible.

    • To assist many of our students we have loaned out our laptops so that they can continue their studies unhindered.

    • Teaching staff have been in contact with all students to make sure they are able to join online learning classes

    • BCAL has provided students with hardcopy packages, containing learning resources for classes.

BCAL staff and management urge everyone to observe government recommendations about good practice to limit the spread of COVID-19:

  • Good hygiene – wash hands thoroughly and regularly for at least 20 seconds

  • Social distancing – 4 sq metres per person

  • Feeling unwell? Stay home and practice self-isolation

  • Coughing or sneezing into elbows or tissues and discarding tissue

  • Limit non-essential travel.

Any questions at all, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Regards
BCAL Team
