Key Messages and Outcomes
Coastal Connections highlights the significant role of Learn Locals in adult education.
Funding for this program allowed staff time to get out of the classroom and work on building relationships with local groups.
It also enabled learners to practice skills related to jobs in a real context.
Bass Coast is a very supportive community for newly arrived migrants.
Participants in the program are very skilled, motivated and enthusiastic community members.
Relationships developed are continuing to address barriers to employment.

Coastal Connections - Work Ties Admin Support
Mon started to work in an International School as Primary Office Coordinator in her home country (Laos) for 9 years. She completed Bachelor of Finance and Banking before she moved to Australia 2 years ago. She was an adult migrant student.
Now she is working with Bass Coast Adult Learning as Administration and Compliance Officer. Recently she got a casual job with Coastal Connections - Work Ties in admin support.
In the future I would like to help migrant people to get connected with the local community and help them to find a job in their area.”
